Hello, 2016

It’s the first Monday of 2016 and there’s only one day left until the start of my final undergraduate semester. After spending almost two weeks driving up, down, and across the state of Florida to visit family – I’m ready to go back to my daily routine. This semester, I promised I wouldn’t overwork myself. I really want to be able to fill this semester with things I both need to do and want to do. Don’t get me wrong, I love being busy and hate saying no to exciting opportunities, but with a part-time job, part-time internship, and full-credit course load last semester, I might have been too busy (okay, fine – I was definitely too busy).

New Year's Resolutions

To make sure I have time to do all the things I want to do (and in order to keep myself accountable), I chose to write down my resolutions for the year – I’ll give you guys the responsibility of making sure I haven’t gone completely astray by the second week of February. Here are my top 4 resolutions for 2016.

  1. Take time to work on my photography and blog.

First and foremost, I want to spend more time on this blog. I want to provide high quality posts and content with big and beautiful (and original) images. I have so many drafts of ideas I never got around to actually typing. This year, I really want to take the time to make my website a thing of beauty.

  2. Celebrate “wins.”

At the end of each day, I plan to recap all the “wins” I’ve collected throughout the day. Taking the time to celebrate wins, both big and small, can keep your day extremely positive by focusing on all of the good things that happened to you that day instead of the bad, which can often be so hard for many of us.

  3. Go to the gym more often.

I feel like this is the first thing on everyone’s resolution list, and the least likely to actually be carried out. No, I don’t plan to go on any of those weird, trendy diets. Instead, I plan to schedule time for the gym each week and actually stick with my fitness plan.

  4. Travel more.

To me, this goes without saying – I really want to travel more this year. From small road trips to week-long vacations, I want to take the time to travel before my schedule is consumed by a full-time job.
