Hello From Post-Grad Life
My Unconventional Resume
Greetings from post-graduate life. It’s been a little under a week since my graduation in The Swamp, and I just realized no longer being a student is another way of saying I’m officially unemployed. Instead of just sitting around, I figure I should probably do something productive with all this new free time. So, let’s think of this post as my unofficial cover letter for any employer out there who needs a helping hand – I’m talking to you, Disney.
Have Camera (and Cupcakes), Will Travel
First, I thought it should be clear this Florida-grown girl is more than willing to move wherever my career takes me, or wherever an opportunity may present itself. From New York to California, and everything in between, I’m all about a change of scenery.I grew up in a small town, so it feels as though I have this natural desire to travel and see the world – going off to college was a great start, but as Ariel would say, I want more. I’m ready to pack up my (very pink) little room and move.
I love all things social media, graphic design & dessert.
For the past year or so, I’ve worked to establish my personal brand. The first iteration of AllonsyAlexa.com came in the form of a portfolio for my undergraduate “Copy and Visualizations” course. After a few modifications and redesigns, I was able to merge my personal blog and portfolio into one branded website. At this point, the essence of AllonsyAlexa.com can be best broken down into three distinct parts: social media, graphic design, and passion.
Social Media
I love social media, and I thoroughly enjoy setting and following trends in the digital world. While most of my time is spent patiently awaiting the cupcake emoji, I manage to stay extremely active on social media. I’m proficient in multiple platforms – such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and even Pinterest. And before you say “sure, what college-aged, dessert-obsessed, pink-loving female isn’t really good at using social media,” I’ll have you know most of my experience is actually in a professional setting, not just personal.
I’ve worked as the Victoria's Secret PINK Campus Representative for the University of Florida, a role in which I managed any and all branded social media accounts. Over the past two years, I’ve been responsible for the strategies behind amazing follower and engagement growth, especially on Instagram. When I took over the account on August 7th, 2014, the Florida PINK Instagram had 2,010 followers, as of today Florida PINK has close to 3,800 followers. I’ve also managed the social presence of hyperlocal brands such as GainesvilleScene, and other small start-ups, as well. I know how to follow and establish brand voice guidelines, and have proven success in my ability to foster engagement on digital platforms.
Graphic Design
Always equipped with a camera in hand, and experience leveraging Adobe Creative Suite, I love creating captivating and engaging original content. I have an eye for design, and I love styling, creating and editing different kinds of media. From fashion to food, I’ve dabbled in multiple settings for content creation. Each unique and equally fun. Having experience in different environments, I believe I can easily adapt to any brand. Most of all, I’m willing to learn. I am determined to learn as much as I can, from as many people as I can.
Passion
I’m extremely passionate and use that passion as the driving force behind everything I do. Whether it’s talking about my favorite dessert or a new product on the market, I always try to let my excitement shine through and transfer onto those around me. What can I say, I'm inspired to inspire others. If you’re interested in having a conversation about what I could bring to your organization, drop me a line. I can’t wait to speak with you!
